I was wearing a Winnie the Pooh windcheater that my mum made for me and appliqued.
Interesting that in 1986, kids needed only party hats, sandwiches cut into little triangles, homemade sausage rolls and Prima juice boxes in the back yard to be truly happy on a birthday.
Sure, there were presents at home and cake, and candles, but the family day carer I was with for about 4 years just organised a picnic in the yard for four little girls who thought it was the best thing ever.
